Russia is a culture rich with traditions and history. It is famous for their arts; their ballet is world renowned as well as their classical music, and the amazing architecture in their cities. Vodka and Matryoshka dolls are some of the first things that come to people minds when they think of Russia, and secondly it is the women. The Russian women are the backbone of the homes and the traditions.
Women in Russia are well educated, very intelligent, and very hard working. But career is not the first thing on their minds. There are a few who focus on a career but the majority dream of marriage and family. They are nurturing women; they want someone to care for and someone to take care of them. Which is one reason why they tend to get married early, between the ages of 18 - 22, and usually before they are ever independent and on their own.
A woman who has not married by the age of 25 is usually not looked upon favorably in society; they think something is wrong with them. Even if the woman has a solid career, making good money, that doesn't mean anything. A married woman with children in Russia is considered a well respected woman.
Marriage is sacred to women in Russia. This is a partnership, a union of equals. It must come with respect and appreciation because they sacrifice all for their husbands and families. Commitment is very important, if a man is unfaithful it is considered to rip the whole foundation of the marriage apart.
Russian women take their role as a wife very seriously and with pride. They believe that they are made to stay at home, taking care of the household and the children while their husbands are working and providing for them. They help without hesitation to build up their husbands careers, even sacrificing their own if necessary. Her main goal is to provide a loving and warm home for her husband, taking care of him first and making sure he is happy.
Children are important in their lives as well. They are mothers that sacrifice everything for their children, offering moral and financial support no matter the age of the child. This can make the best mothers in the world or at times the most domineering. The relationship between the mother and son is typically very strong; it is considered a great pride to have a son. The mother and daughter relationship is strong also, and she teaches her daughters how to be a good mother and wife, how to run a household, cook, and sew.
A Russian woman never hesitates to make the dish their husband requests or is their favorite; they make each meal with pride and love, putting their heart into their work. And, cooking isn't a simple thing as they need to pick up groceries each day, they don't traditionally stock up for the week or two. Some consider a real Russian home is one where the smell of a good soup greets you at the door.
The Russian women hold the families together, sacrificing, dedicating, and giving all they have. As Russia is a place of tradition and values, it is the women that hold those traditions together. They are strong, smart, and unique women, they may be referred to as old fashioned by other cultures, but they don't consider themselves that, they feel this is how a real woman is.
