Creating An Entertaining Environment For Your Students During The School Year

by Nick Santer

Teaching is perhaps one of the most rewarding vocations. It can be really gratifying to see your students learn by leaps and bounds because of the efforts that you put in as their mentor. But I am sure you also realize that teaching is not just about making your students cram all the time. As a teacher you can definitely turn a boring lesson into a fun session and your students can have fun while they gain knowledge.

Depending on the age of your students and the subject that you are teaching them, here are some ideas for fun assignments. Just remember to be creative and let the kids have fun.

Have your students write a fictional story or a funny poem about the subject being learned. The children can then read the stories and poems in class to the rest of their peers. The children can dress up to read them or read them in a funny voice.

Another idea is to make up funny stories or jokes pertaining to the subject or the topic that you are teaching. Additionally, you can also get your students to work on projects that include arts and craft and organize exhibitions of their projects. You could showcase their work to other classes and even their parents as well.

Get your students to create interesting related graphics or Powerpoint presentations on the computer. Class quizzes and competitions, with great prizes. The students themselves could be involved in compiling the questions.

You can ask the students to come up with a business plan or some community giving plan. Assist them in implementing this plan at the community or school level.

Take the class out on a field trip that ends with a picnic or a barbecue. Perform a play based on the subject matter. This play could either be performed in the classroom or before the whole school, or even before the parents.

Make a theme party based on the subject at hand. Every child has to come dressed up as something related to that subject and bring a relevant item of food. There will be games, quizzes, and songs, all related to the study material.
