Have you ever heard of NLP? This has often been called the greatest communication system that has ever been developed. If you've never heard of it, it is a collection of powerful tools that can be used in almost any situation, to create almost any outcome you'd like.
The origins of NLP are relatively recent. It was first created when a couple of guys from different backgrounds modeled some of the best therapists out there. NLP has it's roots in modeling the communication strategies and methods of the best communicators in the world.
One of the first people that were modeled with NLP was Milton Erickson. He created a whole new form of hypnosis called covert, or conversational hypnosis. Before Dr. Erickson, if you wanted to be hypnotized, you had to watch a watch swinging back and forth and listen to some creepy guy telling you that you were getting sleepy. Erickson changed all that. He told people stories that often made no sense at the time, but had powerful lasting effects.
Just from this one genius, a model of communication that is known as the Milton Model was created. This is likely the most persuasive and influential strategy that you can learn. Politicians and the best salespeople today use this model, either knowingly or unknowingly. If you search online for the Milton Model, you'll find an abundance of free information to get you started.
Other experts in the field have described NLP as the objective description of the subjective experience. Everybody sees and responds differently to the same situation. If you have a less that resourceful response, you can use NLP to change it. For example, if you break down into sobbing terror whenever you see a pigeon, you can easily use NLP to change your response.
The best use of NLP is it's ability to model any skill in any person so that you can develop it in yourself. If you want to be a good golfer, you an model Tiger Woods. If you want to be a great musician, you can model Beethoven. They don't even have to be alive. Once you learn how to model the excellence you see in others, the sky is the limit to your unlimited potential.
