One of the questions that often arises when thinking about a wedding is 'Do I need a wedding planner?' It might be helpful to take a look at what wedding planners do before you decide if you want to invest in one. Wedding planners will add to the cost of the wedding, but is it worth it?
When deciding whether or not you want to use a wedding planner's services, you first must ask yourself if you have the time to plan a wedding. Often times, work, pets or children cam make planning a wedding incredibly difficult. A wedding planner, as a professional of the industry should be very familiar with the different vendors. They can help you with food, decorations, flowers, photography and more. In many cases the wedding venue will have an in-house wedding planner. These planners should be available as much as you would like to use them.
One benefit of having a wedding planner on-site is that they know all the details of the venue and have worked with vendors that are familiar with the challenges of the venue (challenges may include sun wilting flowers, or where to best set up the cake-cutting, decorating the dance floor, etc.)
Before you pick a wedding planner, find out how long they have been in business. If possible talk to their previous clients. Find out how their experience was. Did they enjoy the wedding planner? Usually planners will have photography books of previous weddings they have put together. Use these books to help you determine if you like the wedding planner's style and taste. If you do not, keep shopping around.
Make sure you and your wedding planner are on the same page. Make sure you and your wedding planner share the same vision. With all the pressures of a wedding and the things that can potentially go wrong, make sure the person you are working closest with is someone you can trust and relieves aggravation rather that being a source of it.
A good wedding planner will have relationships with vendors and should be able to get you better deals than those you could get on your own. Not only that, they should have a variety of vendors they work with that can help you find unique floral arrangements or invitations if that's what you like.
You can choose to use your wedding planner as much or as little as you like. Whether you are looking to use the wedding planner to plan every detail of the wedding or to just be available to help you pick vendors and answer questions, the choice is yours.
Regardless of how much or how little you use a wedding planner, make sure you consider your needs and your unique situation. Remember, the time a wedding planner can save you can prove to be well worth the expense.
