The key to keeping your relationship fresh is to say I love you in different or novel ways. Sending him a love letter is a fantastic romantic gesture.
If you've never exchanged love letters with your partner, then that hand written love letter will definitely impress. A letter composed by you expressing your feelings will mean so much more than a store bought greeting card.
Some useful suggestions for using the written word to express your feelings.
1.) Your letter should be composed in two separate steps. The first is the composition stage.
The second is the editing stage where spelling, grammar, and other mistakes are corrected. Composition and editing should never be mixed because they each use different parts of the brain.
During the composition stage let the words flow out from within you. Whenever you're conversing with someone, you don't stop to formulate your sentences, the words just flow from your lips. This is the approach you should take when you are composing the letter.
Imagine a setting where both of you are together and you're telling him how much you love him. Write down whatever your imagination says.
Always keep your inner critic silent when you compose. You must actually experience the sentiment that's being written. That means being in the right mood as you write.
Try playing your favorite romantic music in the background. If the writing seems corny, don't worry, just keep writing and get those feeling onto the page.
2.) Include some well known love quotations. Placed in the right spot, it will add beauty to the emotions of the love letter.
Quotations of love can readily be found on the Internet. Search for "romantic quotes" or "love quotations" on the Google or Yahoo search engines.
3.) Compose the letter in another language. This is an advanced technique and is not required but it enhances the letter.
Do this if you have a trusted friend to do the translating. You can either give the translation to your partner or insist that he translates the letter himself.
4.) An important aspect of love letters are the different ways that you can deliver it to him. Using surprise is most effective.
Hide the letter in his briefcase so that he discovers it at work. You can also place it into one of his pockets. There are endless variations to this.
