Huge Roommates Are Fat

by Theresa Alvarez

In these hard economic times, many people who previously lived alone are now seeking roommates to split their costs. If your decision to have a room mate is about covering the cost of your accommodation, you need first to consider having the right room mate. Take the decision very seriously. Keep in mind a complete stranger will be in your house and around all of your things, so you'll want to know everything you can about them. It's imperative that you know you can trust this person before you ask him or her to move in with you.

It's usually the best idea to do a background check. If they are trustworthy they won't be offended and you'll be in a better position to be comfortable with them. To avoid the messiness of attempting to evict a tenant if you find they are an undesirable individual, wait to allow them to move in until you receive the results of the background check. In order to protect yourself and your belongings, do not give a potential tenant approval to move in until you have been able to carefully consider the information in the report.

You will be able to gather some information about the person by running a court records history check on the Internet, which will also minimize the information you need to run the background check. In most cases, you only need the name and date of birth of the roommate you're considering. Criminal history is the primary record that will show up with a background check; however, any civil litigation that the person has been involved in will show up as well. A credit check is a good indicator of whether or not someone can pay rent, so pull up credit information as well.

Because having someone move in as a roommate is a big commitment to make, you don't want to make a mistake and get stuck with a bad roommate, therefore take advantage of online background checks.

Even though it is fun in meeting someone new, safety is always a must when letting someone you don't know become a roommate, always trust your gut when choosing your next roommate and good luck.

If personal property is left on the premises the landlord will notify the signers. The most commonly used occupancy limitations are 2 people per bedroom plus 1. (http://www.roomiesearch.net) Roommate in ITASCA The last couple of years have been hard for many people.
