Wedding Dress Trends For 2010

by Mark Walters

Fashion trends have a habit of recycling those of yesterday and it should be no surprise that wedding dresses are following in line. The latest wedding dress trends are incorporating a number of facets of the fashion world, while also restoring the glory days of some of wedding fashions most signature pieces. Dresses are starting to incorporate the addition of flowers and metallic fabrics to give an added dimension to the all-white traditional wedding dress. Bridal veil variations are also making a comeback, with different variations adding vintage looks into modern dresses.

New trends are seeing a revival of a 1950's style of dress into wedding dress styles. These retro creations are giving brides the ability to be traditional and new simultaneously by merging styles of yesterday with new wedding fashions such as the inclusion of fresh flowers. Silhouette style wedding dresses have always been popular for brides with slender builds due to their ability to accentuate the curves of the body. Strapless versions of these tightly fitting silhouette dresses will remain popular.

Wedding dresses are also beginning to take their influences from other traditional events and the ballroom dance is no exception. Large, long flowing ballroom style wedding gowns are able to give focus to the top half of a brides body while covertly disguising the lower half. This benefits those women who want to provide the illusions of a more shapely figure and the added bonus is that the style of gown from which the influence is taken already signifies elegance and grace. A new style of gown is also beginning to gain popularity as it offers up an alternative to traditional designs. The Tea-length dress gives a wedding a more casual feel as they are often much shorter than a traditional gown. These dresses give an alternative feel to any bride who wants to depart from tradition a little more.

A change in the fabrics being used in wedding dresses is also appearing to have an influence a number of gowns of established popularity. The Grecian style wedding dress is a new style that provides a bride with a light and airy design She benefits from a perceived natural grace that traditional Greeks have been renowned for. Employing metallic fabrics in mermaid style dresses is another popular trend that we will see in wedding dress designs over the next year. These fabrics give a real focus to the elegant design of the dress that any bride will be happy to wear.

A new form of veil known as 'the Birdcage veil' is becoming popular with brides who depart a little more from tradition. This style can incorporate jewels, beads, feathers or lace to provide a style of cage that focuses upon a brides face while being an excellent vintage addition to the brides overall style on her wedding day.
